Is It Time You Revamped Your Fitness Regimen?

Have you hit a wall with your workouts? Has your weight plateaued or are you starting to find it increasingly tough to find the motivation to exercise? Does it feel like you’re having to work harder to get noticeable results? Has the novelty of being active worn thin? If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, it may be time for a fitness regimen revamp. Here are some tips to help you gain more and get back on track.

Switching up your routine

Are you used to going to the gym at 10 am every day or going for a jog at 6 pm? If your routine is set like clockwork, it can become mundane and monotonous. Try and switch up your workout patterns to make every day different. Try working out first thing in the morning, taking an extended lunch break or hitting the gym straight after work. If every day has a different layout, there’s a much lower risk of you getting stuck in a rut.

Trying new things

When you talk about working out, it’s easy to imagine yourself stuck in a gym lifting weights and running miles on a treadmill. The truth of the matter is that this is one form of getting fit. There are so many other activities you can try. If you like the kind of workouts you do at the gym, but you’re crying out for a change of scenery, kit yourself out with some suitable gear and use an outdoor gym or book some personal training sessions at the beach or the park. You can browse Fourlaps here and take a look at sweats, tops, and running shorts. You could also look into military style fitness classes or simply alternate your gym sessions with jogging or cycling. If the idea of lifting weights or spending hours on an elliptical trainer don’t appeal, shake up the regimen with some classes or join a team or club. You don’t have to pump iron to get in shape. Try some spin or high-intensity interval classes, join a tennis or swimming club or start doing soccer or basketball training once a week. If you’re doing different activities, you’re unlikely to get bored.

Moving on up

If you’re training at the same level all the time, you may find that you’re not getting the results you hoped for. You don’t have to aim for a new PB every time you go for a run, but try and challenge yourself. Once you hit one goal, set another and keep working. The more effort you put it, the more you’ll get out.

finish line

If you’re running low on motivation or you seem to have hit a brick wall when it comes to making progress with your fitness regimen, it may be time to make some changes. Adjust your routine, be open to trying new things and varying your workouts and keep pushing yourself. If you’ve got goals in mind, you’re having fun and every day is different, you’re much more likely to get what you want out of your workouts.
