Helene Byrne, founder of Be Fit Mom  is the author of the award winning DVD “Bounce Back Fast! Post Natal Core Conditioning” and the acclaimed book “Exercise After Pregnancy: How to Look and Feel Your Best.” Her mission is to educate, motivate, and inspire women to have healthier pregnancies and babies.

Helene Byrne began her life in fitness as a dancer, but everything changed the day she became pregnant.

Be Fit Mom was founded with the dedication to help women stay fit and healthy during and after their pregnancies, and to inspiring and motivating women to lead their entire families to better health and wellness.


Helene has over twenty years of experience in the fitness industry. A former professional dancer, she holds a BFA from the Boston Conservatory and is an ACE (American Council on Exercise) certified Personal Trainer. Her fitness experience runs the gamut from group fitness and private training, to Pilates, yoga, injury rehabilitation, and special populations.

The birth of her son inspired her to specialize in prenatal and postpartum fitness and exercise. Drawing on her knowledge of Pilates, dance, and classic fitness techniques, Be Fit Mom creates an unique system of exercise that quickly, safely, and effectively restores the body after pregnancy and childbirth. Both her book, “Exercise After Pregnancy: How to Look and Feel Your Best” (Celestial Arts, 2001) and DVD, “Bounce Back Fast!: Post Natal Core Conditioning” (BeFit-Mom, 2005) have received wide acclaim in the fitness and birthing communities, and with women everywhere.

Through her workshops, she has had the pleasure of helping hundreds of women recondition their bodies after childbirth and live active, fit, healthy lifestyles.

Today Be Fit Mom tells the Live Fit listeners how important it is to prepare the body for pregnancy and to be careful afterward with movements so as not to cause Diastasis Recti.

Helene tells us some of the do’s and don’ts of post-natal exercising and what most people do. She chose to create her own methods rather than rely on the industry norm of crunches and Pilates moves.

She explains why women shouldn’t run for the first 6 months after pregnancy. and how soon they should begin with core strength and stability exercises after pregnancy.

She also told us some surprising news about aerobic fitness after pregnancy.
